Albert came off the bench for the USWNT against Japan in the SheBelieves Cup, just a week after a firestorm of controversy engulfed both her and the national team. Her social media activity went viral as anti-LGBTQIA+ likes and posts were uncovered, while she also claimed that her pronouns were "USA" along with her family. She also seemingly "liked" a post which celebrated an injury to USWNT icon Megan Rapinoe in her final-ever game, and she subsequently responded with a lengthy Instagram comment in which she called attention to the mental health crisis amongst LGBTQIA+ youth.

During her introduction, a smattering of boos greeted her substitution and one fan, @boo_literature wrote: "LMAO they tried to sneak Korbin Albert on to the field and they thought we wouldn't notice ahahaha."
SOS-go23 added: "Those Korbin Albert boos weren't quiet. I heard them."
Rileyawfc said: "Korbin Albert playing for 12 minutes is 12 minutes too many – especially this season."
And EllstonLogan said: "It's fine to boo Korbin Albert – she did something offensive and she needs to hear about it. But she was a teenager at the time, she apologized for her mistake, and she deserves a chance to move on."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The USWNT came from behind to win the game against Japan. Kiko Seike opened the scoring in the first minute, but Jaedyn Shaw scored an exceptional equaliser from range before Lindsey Horan sealed the win with a penalty.
