Referee Sam Barrott brandished the red card midway through the first half of Fulham's game against Newcastle after a wild challenge from Jimenez. The Mexican striker jumped high and collided with Sean Longstaff in a reckless piece of play. The referee initially showed the yellow card but upgraded it to a red after a VAR check.

The incident was bad news for Fulham who were left to play the rest of the game with a man down. Marco Silva's side had come into the fixture on a strong run of form, winning 5-0 against Nottingham Forest and West Ham in their last two fixtures. Jimenez had also been in good form, scoring three goals in his last two games. He'll now have to serve a suspension, ruling him out of action at a busy time of year in the Premier League.
