According to The Telegraph, Matty Longstaff is on the verge of signing a new contract with Newcastle United but the same cannot be said for his brother Sean Longstaff.
Matty scored the winner on his Premier League debut against Manchester United last month – his contract is due to expire at the end of the current season, but the 19-year-old will reportedly pen an extension ‘in the next few weeks’.
According to The Telegraph, Sean, who only penned a new contract last year, wants to become one of the club’s top earners with a new deal.
However, Newcastle are said to be reluctant to agree to the demands at this stage, with the midfielder being told that he ‘needs to do more’.
Man United were linked with a move for the older Longstaff during the summer, and it will be fascinating to see how the story develops over the next few months.
