has reported that Jorginho is expected to sign the offer of a new deal, which appears to be instead of simply triggering the one-year option that was included in the original 18-month contract he signed upon joining the club in January 2023. The length of the new proposal is not clear. He had said in the past about a desire to play in Serie A again before he retires.

Arsenal's decision makes sense when considering the fact that Jorginho has made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this season and establish himself as an invaluable squad player. Only 19 of those have been as a starter, but Mikel Arteta clearly values the Italy international when it comes to resting players or seeing games out. He has even captained the team on several occasions over the course of the campaign.
WHAT ARTETA HAS PREVIOUSLY SAID ABOUT JORGINHO
In February, Arteta said: "He's won everything but you ask him not to play or play one minute last week he's happy to go there. Ask him to play 90 minutes at that rhythm and he's able to do that. I'm really lucky to have players like this."

Arsenal are determined to end a 20-year wait for a Premier League title, but their fate rests on whether Manchester City drop points in their remaining games. The Gunners lead the way by a single point, but City have a game in hand and will leapfrog their rivals should they win all four of their fixtures that are left. However, any slip up would give Arsenal a chance, but they will likely still need to win out the season against Bournemouth, Manchester United and Everton in order to capitalise.
