There’s been very little to criticise West Bromwich Albion for this season.
Indeed the Baggies have lost just five league games all season, and it’s been very tough to poke holes in Slaven Bilic’s side.
Unfortunately, they’ve not been at their best lately, failing to win each of their last three games, and they’ve picked up just one point from the last six available in the league.
However, there has been one incredibly concerning factor over those previous two performances.

Baggies’ attacking woes
What’s more concerning than that is the fact that they’ve failed to find the back of the net in each of their last two league games, and if that run continues they’ll find it a struggle to get promoted.
It doesn’t really matter where the goals are coming from as long as they start finding the net, and there is one unorthodox remedy they could utilise to find more attacking prowess from the midfield.
Unconventional reshuffle
It’s often said that attack is the best form of defence, but in West Brom’s case, defence could be the best form of attack.
Bilic has had a bit of a selection headache at centre-back in recent weeks, rotating between Ahmed Hegazi and Kyle Bartley, but it may be time for him to play those two together in order to add a new dynamic to the team’s attack.
Utilising this centre-back pairing wouldn’t only resolve Bilic’s selection dilemma, but it would also allow Semi Ajayi to play in a more advanced role where he has previously proven to be incredibly effective.
The Nigerian has scored seven goals in 24 games while playing as a midfielder throughout his career. Just as a comparison, Charlie Austin has eight goals in 26 league appearances this season, and he’s a striker on £70k a week.
He has scored plenty of headers this season from centre-back, the majority of his goals when playing as a midfielder have come with more traditional shots rather than headers.
Moving Ajayi further forward could be a masterstroke and his injection of goals could add a new dynamic to Albion’s attack.
In other news, West Brom’s summer transfer priority has become clear.
