[ad_pod ]Speaking on talkSPORT, prolific French football journalist Julien Laurens has stated that he believes that Qatari Sports Investments will indeed end up buying Leeds United.Speculation has been rampant about the financial group’s interest in buying the club over the past fortnight, but recent reports have suggested that a deal is edging closer to being completed.
What’s been said then?
The self-proclaimed ‘French football expert and consultant’ appeared on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning and stated that he believes the PSG owners indeed want to buy Leeds United.
“The PSG owners are very keen on buying Leeds. They tick a lot of the boxes for them. I’d be very surprised if the takeover doesn’t happen. I think it will happen sooner rather than later,” he said.
Matter of time
This update surely indicates that it is only a matter of time before QSI take charge at Leeds United.
Andrea Radrizzani may not want to sell a controlling stake in the club, but with Laurens saying that he would be surprised if the takeover doesn’t happen it seems that there will be a change of ownership at some point.
The men in charge of QSI are multi-billionaires, and they won’t be used to not getting what they want. If the talkSPORT guest is right about the group being ‘very keen’ on buying the club, then you feel that eventually a deal will happen.
Radrizzani may love being in charge of the Yorkshire club, but he isn’t stupid. Above all else the Italian is a businessman and if the Qataris make a huge bid for a controlling stake in Leeds United he’ll surely be tempted.
